A tragic incident occurred when a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus collided with a stranded lorry, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to twelve others. The bus was en route to Maski at the time of the accident.
Authorities have identified the deceased as Balanayak and Shweta. The collision happened when the bus driver lost control and crashed into the parked lorry near Bairapur Cross.
The injured passengers were promptly taken to the Ballari Trauma Care Centre and the Siruguppa Taluk Hospital for medical attention. A formal complaint has been lodged at the Siruguppa police station regarding the incident.
In a related incident on August 16, three people lost their lives and seven others sustained serious injuries when a KSRTC bus collided with a broken-down truck on the highway near Ittinabail in Yellapur taluk. The bus was traveling from Bagalkot to Mangaluru when it struck a Kerala-registered truck that was parked on the roadside.
Among the deceased were two women, Neelavva, aged 38, and Gourijavva, aged 43, while the identity of a third male victim remains unconfirmed. The injured individuals were transferred to KIMS Hospital in Hubballi for further treatment.
